Assignments

Prompt 1:

3 minute exercise.

1 minute poses from the model.

  • Draw the figure on your paper.

  • Step back and delete areas using your shammy, or accentuate areas with the shammy/charcoal.

  • The model will switch poses, and draw again ON TOP of your old drawing.

  • Repeat 3x. You will have three drawings on top of one another by the end of this

Prompt 2:

20 minute exercise.

20 minute pose from the model.

  • Using charcoal, draw the figure for 5 minutes

  • At the 5 minute mark, start ripping up your drawing.

  • Reconstruct your ripped pieces onto a new canvas/paper, still looking at and responding to the figure as you reconstruct.

  • At the 15 minute mark, start adding in color. Limit yourself to only three colors.

Prompt 3:

30 minute exercise.

30 minute pose from the model.

  • “Freestyle” - Explore with collage, paint, and color

  • Create a problem for yourself

    • Examples: make your figure look like a landscape, make your figure using only negative shapes, make your figure feel isolated and small, make your figure feel monumental …. etc.
