Alana’s Response: Creating a “giant snail” for a music video with my friend Justine. We made a quilt for the shell which ended up being the most time consuming part of the project! Below are some process pictures.
I wanted to show you this project because of the quilt component, but also because of how much the raw materials of the sculpture “contrast” with the end result. We used cardboard, newspaper, and spray foam to create dimension. In their raw forms, those materials look very unfinished. Once we put the quilt over it, the design became tighter, cleaner, and professional looking.
