In experimental surfaces and materials in painting, students will push the boundaries of their painting beyond the typical paint on canvas. Inspired by artists like Rauschenberg and more, students will use fabrics, collage, cardboard, image transfers and a plethora of bold material and surface choices in their work. Each week, students will be shown a lecture on past and present artists who push the material boundaries of their work. Then, students will be given a weekly assignment and critique, as well as a demonstration from their instructors on how to approach the materials and surfaces suggested.
