Blanche Lazzell (1878 – 1956) is a Provincetown artist whose oeuvre spans the time of Hawthorne and Hofmann. You will study her principles of abstraction through working from a model, with exercises that reveal how line, space and form move on a two-dimensional surface.

We begin with a PowerPoint presentation of works by Blanche Lazzell focusing on her figurative work. When the model arrives on ZOOM, we continue with two hours of drawing/painting/collage with a half hour of affirming and insightful virtual critique at the end. You will leave with original artwork, knowledge about abstracting the figure, and a day well spent with other artists while working from the comfort of your own environment.
