In this painting course, students will study color theory and how it relates to sound and music (chromesthesia). Using Josef Alber’s Interaction of Color, Kassia St. Claire’s Secret Lives of Color, artists like Kandinsky, and our special guest jazz composer and musician Eli Feingold as guides, students will explore the history and foundations of color theory, color history, and chromesthesia. This course will be taught online through Zoom using discussion-based lectures and thoughtful and compassionate critiques. Students will be encouraged to take risks with their art, join group conversations, ask questions, and use critical thinking skills.
