Figure Drawing for Artists Who Want to Learn Hofmann's Push/Pull Theory

WORKSHOP DATE: January 11, 2021

WHEN: Monday, 9:30 - 1:30pm (with a lunch break)

WHERE: Virtual meeting on Zoom, by the Provincetown Art Association and Museum

SESSIONS: 1 Session

PRICE: $125 for members, $150 for non-members

TEACHERS: Laura Shabott with Alana Barrett

Hofmann’s theory of pushing and pulling a composition on a two- dimensional surface is best understood when drawing from life with charcoal on paper. The course begins with a lecture on Hofmann’s push/ pull theory by viewing work from the collection. We continue with two hours of drawing and then a break for lunch. The workshop reconvenes for critique. Each artist, no matter what their level of experience, will leave with a deeper understanding of the theories that shape modern art. Affirming and insightful feedback will create the ability for you to further explore figure drawing.
