Helen Frankenthaler (1928 – 2011) was an abstract expressionist painter who spent summers in Provincetown. Her contributions to modern art include introducing color field painting to her contemporaries and continuing to influence future generations, including ours. You will work from a model, with exercises that reveal how color, use of materials and memory can be incorporated into working from life.

We begin with a PowerPoint presentation that includes works from the PAAM collection by the artist. When the model arrives on ZOOM, we continue with two hours of drawing/painting/collage and a half hour of inspiring and insightful critique at the end of class. You will leave with original artwork, knowledge about color field painting, and a day well spent with other artists while working from the comfort of your own environment.
