Understanding the Figure Through Line and Watercolor

WORKSHOP DATE: March 7, 2021

WHEN: Sunday, 10am - 2pm

WHERE: Virtual on Zoom, by the Provincetown Art Association and Museum

SESSIONS: 1 session

PRICE: $125 for members, $150 for non-members

TEACHER: Laura Shabott and Alana Barrett

What are the elements of drawing and painting that create delicacy and intimacy? Working from a model allows us to explore how a variety of lines combined with the unexpected nature of watercolor or gouache brings a new and fresh relationship to drawing and painting the figure.

We will begin with a lecture of Egon Schiele, David Hockney, as well as emerging contemporary artists. You will work from a model with guided exercises, one built upon the other, showing you how to go from an empty surface to a series of vibrant drawings or paintings.

The affirming, real time critique throughout the day is the heart of the course. You connect with other artists in a safe environment to discuss process, principles, compositional choice, and color relationships through the mediums of pencil, ink and watercolor.
