Painting techniques will give you the opportunity to explore 5 mediums (walnut oil, oil sticks, sumi ink, oil paints, and acrylics) in unique ways in your work and studio practice. We will approach each medium with curiosity and play, with an emphasis on experimentation and process based painting. Each week students will be presented with a lecture on exemplary artists who use these mediums in their work, an energizing demonstration on technique by the instructors, and a weekly assignment/critique.
